Practice Habits You Do Not Have To Remember On The Virtual Piano
Remind your child practicing piano in your home to:
1. Sing the note names as they are played. Pre-reading music has the names of the notes written on the note heads. Students will need to say the names of subsequently notes as they’re played so they learn to picture what keys are under their fingers in beginning hand ranks C and Middle C. Without this simple knowledge, students will not b able to go on to learning how to read notes about the staff.
2. Keep eyes. Once students have their hands posture, they have to keep their eyes on the music, not look down at their hands. This way they are creating a computer keyboard in their imaginations. This is also necessary for studying notes on the staff, which is a map of the piano keyboard.
3. Sit back on the piano seat and reach out to the piano. Pupils will not be able to use their little muscles in the fingers unless they’re reaching out to the piano with their arms stretched and elbows slightly bent with elbows pointing out into the walls and not the floor.
4. Round the palms over the keyboard. The fingers need to stretch down to the piano keys in the top knuckle and then retract back into a round hand position. This allows for finger flexibility and control.
Play every tune 5 to 7 times a day. It doesn’t take long for a young student to practice their start lessons. But each song has to be played with about 7 times using fantastic playing strategies.
For the typical student whose instructor has assigned both tunes, this will take around 5 minutes per song. That is a ten second practice session. And that’s all really beginning students will need to do to learn their own lessons. However, without these strategies they never learn what they have to understand and could sit at the piano for hours.
