Practice Habits You Do Not Have to Consider On The Virtual Piano
Remind your child practicing piano in your home to:
1. Sing the note names are played. Pre-reading music has the titles of the notes written on the note heads. Pupils will need to state the names of then notes as they’re played so that they learn to picture what keys are beneath their palms at beginning hand positions C and Middle C. Without this simple knowledge, students will not b able to proceed to learning to read notes about the staff.
2. Keep eyes on the music, not the hands. This way they’re creating a computer keyboard in their imaginations. This is also essential for reading notes on the team, which is a map of the piano keyboard.
3. Sit back to the piano bench and reach out into the piano. Pupils will not be capable of using their little muscles in the hands unless they are reaching out to the piano with their arms stretched and elbows slightly bent with elbows pointing out to the walls and not the floor.
4. Round the hands over the keyboard. The fingers will need to stretch to the piano keys from the top knuckle and then retract back into a round hand position. This allows for finger control and flexibility.
Play every song 5 to 7 times a day. It does not take long to get a young student to practice their beginning lessons. But each song needs to be performed about 7 times utilizing good playing approaches.
For the student whose teacher has assigned them two tunes, this will require around 5 minutes per tune. That is a ten second practice session. And that’s all really beginning students will need to do in order to learn their lessons. But without these strategies they never learn what they have to understand and could sit at the piano for hours.
